What made you decide to contest in school committee elections?

I became interested in running for school committee this past year as a result of the negative interactions I was watching during the zoom meetings. I felt as though there were meetings where we lost sight of our teachers and students. I felt as a lifetime Sharon resident, product of Sharon Public Schools, Educator and Parent, it was my time to give back to the community that has given me so so much. As a result, here I am today.

Can you describe your experience as a student and how it shaped your vision?

Growing up, I attended Cottage Street Elementary School, Middle School and SHS. I went to Simmons College and completed my M.ED in Elementary Ed. Upon graduation, I started my career as an Educational Assistant working with students on the Autism Spectrum. I decided to go back to school again to learn more about best practices working with children with special needs and enrolled in Boston University and earned an ED. M in special education. After some more professionally experiences throughout Boston Public and Lexington Public, I decided to enroll back at BU to pursue a degree in Administration and Leadership. I now run a post graduate program for students aged 18-22 in Canton. For me, education is about helping each child fund the entry point to their learning so they have a meaningful and individualized experience.

What (if any) changes would you make if you are elected and how will it impact students of SPS?

If elected my first order of business will be to start working with the administration on our district strategic plan. We must come to an understanding of our priorities and create a framework from which we all draw from. We must come to an understanding of our priorities and lay create a framework from which we all draw from.

As the school committee is for students, why do you think should students choose you for school committee?

I am excited for this opportunity. I am thankful for all that the teachers of SPS have done to law the foundation for where I am today. I would love students to vote for me because I want to be a voice for all. As I high school teacher I work hard to build meaningful relationships with all students. Ask the CHS kids and they will say just that. I want to make sure all students are supported and feel safe to come to school and do their best.
